Footy Works Revision History

'Footy Works' was first released publicly on September 2nd 2002.

Footy Works has undergone many changes since its first release. The following list of changes will provide an overview of the changes that Footy Works has undergone since its initial release.

  - Added 6 functional modes or 'Editions' to Footy Works, depending on end-user registration requirements.
  - Added the ability to create 8 additional custom leagues to enable local leagues to track their statistics (DEMONSTRATION, DRAFTEE, ELITE and LEGEND editions only).
  - The Installation and Registration Numbers have been replaced with 16 character alphanumeric Installation and Registration Codes. All users will require new Registration codes to Register Footy Works.
  - Added Player Statistics search screen panel to allow searches for Player statistics (ELITE and LEGEND editions only).
  - Enhanced the Search screen to allow more powerful filtering on Seasons, Rounds, Teams and Venues (ELITE and LEGEND editions only).
  - Added 'Invert' option to many of the search parameters to reverse/invert the parameter selection made (ELITE and LEGEND editions only).
  - Change FWI import file format to avoid confusion with ZIP files.
  - Change FWI import file processing so that it updates existing data instead of ignoring/skipping it.
  - Added processing time to each look-up process, and any process that takes more than a minimum of 20 seconds will display a message to allow the user to abort the process immediately - this is particularly useful on startup.
  - Added notes field to match details - currently there are no notes stored for AFL match details, but some will be added in time, and it will also be possible to add your own notes to any match. The notes field can cater for up to 255 characters.
  - Numerous (hundreds) of data corrections and updates, particularly to player statistics.
  - The addition of 1992 and 1991 player statistics.
  - Updated Footy Works icon.
  - Some minor user interface changes.

  Fixed the following bugs:
  - Fixed problem with data import process that caused the import to fail for new seasons.
  - Statistics for non-specific teams for Won All 4 Quarters of a Match, Lost All 4 Quarters of a Match, Falls in Ladder Position After a Win, Rises in Ladder Position After a Loss, Won 3 Quarters but Lost the Match and Lost 3 Quarters but Won the Match only displayed data for the home team.
  - Many non-statistic nodes did not display any data or message.
  - Several other minor bugs also rectified.

  Added the following features:

• 2003-08-10, V1.2.5.

  Added the following features:
  - Added text output file to output of email registration process in addition to the HTML output file. This was due to the fact that the HTML file sometimes did not get created correctly and was sometimes an empty file. Having the text file as a backup will assist in capturing registration details.
  - Added Most Matches Played Against statistic to Player Statistics by Individual and Player Statistics by Number sections.
  - Added New Player Statistics Category of 'Player Statistics by Opponent'.
  - Added 'OR' Option to Quarterly scoring parameters on the Search screen.
  - Added 'Ladder Positions Table' statistic.
  - Fixed a bug that caused a crash if match details were updated (under certain circumstances).
  - Removed Rebounds, Inside 50's, Clearances and Clangers from all Player Statistics to prevent any possible legal action from News Limited, who are the 'owners' of this information. We have compensated for this removal by adding the 'Player Statistics by Opponent' statistics category. Our philosophy is to always provide more with each release. We believe that we have achieved this with this release.

  Fixed the following bugs:
  - Quarter-based score statistics did not return any data (raised by Luke Tunnecliffe).
  - Most Frees Against in a Match displayed a Home Margin Distribution graph (raised by Alex Rohan).
  - Popup Menu for Player Statistics did not display for Player Career results (raised by Alex Rohan).



• 2003-07-07, V1.2.3.

  Fixed the following bugs:
  - All Players under Premiership Seasons did not display any data (raised by Alex Rohan).
  - Match details of player matches displayed under Premiership Seasons did not display the correct match details (raised by Alex Rohan).

  Added the following features:

  Updated the following features:
  - Updated ladder information for 2003 data for correctness.
  - Updated ladder information for 25 previous seasons for correctness.
  - Compacted program size.

  Fixed the following bugs:
  - Updating of venue for match details did not change all instances within the database.
  - Venue Summary Win-Loss statistics for Matches incorrectly displayed 'Home' against Win, Loss and Draw columns.
  - Match details for Streaks matches incorrectly displayed the wrong round match (raised by Bruce Kennedy and Alex Rohan).



• 2003-04-18, V1.2.0.

  Added the following features:
  - Added Round-by-Round Player statistics to Premiership Season section (from 1994 onwards).
  - New database structure (allowing for future features).
  - Added crowd figures for all Premiership matches from 1921 onwards.
  - Added 'Indoors' indicator to match details to indicate matches played Indoors under a roof.
  - Updated existing data for correctness.

  Fixed the following bugs:
  - 'Expired' caption in the title of the main Footy Works screen now only appears when the application expires when unregistered.
  - Import data processing has been changed to be less strict on file name format.
  - When a new match was created with a status of 'NOT YET PLAYED', there was no way of finding, let alone changing those matches (raised by Bruce Kennedy and Alex Rohan).
  - Score accuracy for Match statistics was only working for 'Home' teams.



• 2003-03-19, V1.1.6 (emergency fix).

  Fixed the following bugs:
  - Application expires even when correctly registered (when database has been installed more than once).
  - Average crowd sizes incorrect for incomplete crowd data (raised by Alex Rohan).



• 2003-03-11, V1.1.5.

  - Improved File Import functionality.

  Fixed the following bugs:
  - Import file names needing to be all upper case.
  - New empty season (with no rounds entered) produces run-time error if used in Search screen.
  - Import file name needed to be all upper case.
  - When updating any match details, the match date/time would increment over 103 years into the future each time a change was made to that match.
  - Most Goals statistic only showing home teams in results (raised by Kevin Taylor).



• 2003-02-19, V1.1.4.

  Added the following features:
  - Wizard Home Loans Cup 9/6/3/1 point scorelines can now be viewed and entered with Footy Works.
  - Administration rights no longer required to install Footy Works.
  - Changed several messages and initial startup settings for first-time use.

  Fixed the following bugs:
  - Season Ladder Positions not displaying graph (when it did in earlier releases) (raised by Alex Rohan).
  - '+' symbol next to Teams under season area of tree removed (this option will be available once Player statistics are included).
  - Database data patch (to allow for the new scoreline format).

  - Changed unregistered Footy Works to display data up to the end of 1999 instead of 1979.

  Fixed the following bugs:
  - Rapid repeated expansion and collapsing of tree nodes caused run-time error.
  - Installation Number generation occasionally leads to corrupt value that would not allow Registration of Footy Works.
  - Indoor (Day) matches incorrectly displayed for season filtered statistics (raised by Frank Camilleri).
  - Search Screen failed to find Indoor (Day) matches (raised by Alex Rohan).
  - Database data patch (Amended designated Home team for 14 Waverley matches) (raised by Martin Windsor-Black).

  Added the following features:
  - Added 'Indoor (Day)' category to Match Times.
  - Removed 'Twilight' category from Match Times (not recognised by the AFL).
  - Added ability to redisplay Search Summary information when the information has been hidden.
  - Improved the algorithm for Search Within Previous Search to use far less database memory.

  - Database data patch (Match Times updated for Indoor (Day) and changed to Day for Twilight matches) (raised by Kevin Taylor).

  - Match and Team matches lists were displaying incorrect data for Match Date/Time and Winner - attendance column was also added (raised by Alex Rohan).
  - Score accuracy statistics were only showing home team matches (raised by Bruce Kennedy).
  - Search on Final Round with all Final Match Types did not return Final Round matches.
  - Printing to only First Page printed all pages on one page (raised by Kevin Taylor).
  - Database data patch ('Footscray' was being displayed instead of 'Western Bulldogs' for 1997, 2 Night matches were set as Twilight, and a Morning match was set as a Day match) - (discovered by Kevin Taylor).
  - Several report columns were not sorting correctly (mainly goals and behinds related).

  - Lowest Average Points Against values not sorting correctly (raised by Bruce Kennedy).
  - Highest Combined Scores displaying only Home Team based results (raised by Bruce Kennedy).
  - Sorting on Round By Round Attendances was reversing the Rounds within Seasons.
